Denver's anthems of fame about Colorado are a source of inspiration for many to move to the state. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says the fact that John Denver is unlike any other performer who has the recognizable image of Colorado. In the year 2011, Denver was chosen as the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. Denver has become the image of Colorado for many people across the globe. When I travel, I always encounter someone on the other side of the world or someone from New Zealand and you say 'I'm of Colorado and the very first thing that comes out of their mouth is Oh John Denver! Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief time in small folk groups. Danoff composed the track with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear an early version of the song and realized it was going to be a top 10 hit. The song was performed at Washington D.C. to a massive crowd, Denver made a recording a few days later.
